Humane Society of Hardy County

Established in October 2023, the Humane Society of Hardy County (HSHC) is a non-profit animal welfare program recognized as a 501-C-3 organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and incorporated with the West Virginia Secretary of State. We have a Board of Directors with a capacity of nine members. In March 2024, HSHC was awarded a grant by WV Department of Agriculture Spay and Neuter program. This funding has resulted in 80 cats being spayed or neutered or scheduled for surgery. Our goals include an aggressive TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) program, foster and adoptive parent recruitment, an ongoing public education campaign, and fundraising to maintain a financial account fully sufficient to meet the needs of the organization. HSHC has established firm relationships with four veterinarians in three counties and agencies within Hardy County government. We look forward to working with various community entities to build a new animal shelter and or to expand the existing dog pound.
